Beauty Nine to Five - Beauty Jobs in Canada

The holiday Season is the perfect excuse to wear glitter from day to night without people look at you like you’re crazy. All the glitterized products currently available can be a tad overwhelming, not to mention it’s hard to decide which part of your look to add some sparkle too. To help you add some sparkle to your beauty regiment this winter, we’ve rounded up our favourite glittery beauty items available right now.

For the Hair
Yes, we started our list with something a little less conventional. Our hair deserves to be the life of the party, and for that, IGK created the most fun hairspray to rock at all your winter parties. The Preparty Hair Strobing Glitter Spray will make your hair sparkle everywhere you go this winter, not to mention it will also come in handy this festival season.

For All Over
Loose glitter has never been more in than now! It’s a versatile product that you can use anywhere, from your eyes, shoulders, chest to your hair! Too Faced has created this limited edition glitter set, perfectly called ‘Tis season to sparkle will have you ready to sparkle everywhere you go.

For the Eyes
Bored with your predictable old black eyeliner? The holidays are the perfect time to try different liner looks. Winged liner always makes a basic makeup look stand out, so why not swap black for a sparkly colourful liner instead? NYX has an incredible lineup of glittery liners that are not only budget-friendly but also available in a wide variety of colours so you can make your winged liner everything but traditional.

For the Lips
We definitely couldn’t forget about the lips! We talked about glittery lipglosses in a previous post, but we didn’t fully explore how glitter lipstick could extend through the holidays. Amplify your lip game this winter by using Ciaté London’s Glitter Flip, which comes in a variety of colours from delicate pink to bold green.

For the Legs
If you’re planning on rocking an LBD this winter, your legs and arms deserve some love. Kopari is a cool, all natural brand that has this incredible coconut body glow that will not only hydrate your skin but also give it a much-needed glow during the dry winter months.

Beauty Jobs – Glitter Glamour

Beauty Nine to Five - Beauty JobsGetFileAttachment

If there’s a time of the year to wear glitter, it’s definitely Christmas. From family get-together’s to work dinners, there’s an occasion to indulge in a bit of extra glam. I’ll show you a few ways to wear glitter liner that range from subtle to all out glam.

The first option is for the more subtle makeup loving gals. Instead of opting for a traditional liquid liner, something like a shimmer pencil liner is great; it still provides a fun, festive alternative to your normal routine without being too high maintenance. The Urban Decay 24/7 metallic pencils are great!

Second involves using glitter eyeliner as you would traditional eyeliner.  But because glitters are often chunkier (meaning they’re more sheer), it’s best to start by lining where you want the glitter to go with a black liquid liner first. This way you have a starting point, and something to help boost the intensity of the look.

Or, for a more “hey notice me!” look, addthe glitter liner under the eyes (focusing more on the inner corner to center). This will makes your eyes appear a bit further apart, and really brighten up the look!

Third, use glitter liners all over the lid (because why not?). Because the liners are often so sheer, they can easily be used for multiple purposes. Fill in a bit of the liner over the mobile lid, and then take a blending brush to buff out the edges, making for a seamless transition over the rest of the eye makeup. Just make sure you keep your eyes closed for a bit and let the liner set, otherwise you’ll have glitter everywhere. Lighter colours work best for this approach.

Lastly, create makeshift glitter eyeliner. Don’t feel like shelling out big bucks for some gorgeous liquid eyeliner? Not to worry! Simply use whatever highly pigmented liner you already have (liquid works great), and put a bit of pigment over the line. Just spray your smudger brush with a setting spray (like Mac Fix plus), dip it into the pigment, and carefully trace over the liner.

And with all these looks, make sure you do your eye makeup before you do your base—otherwise, things can get pretty messy!

Beauty Jobs – Office Appropriate Glittery Makeup

Usually glittery makeup is only reserved for special occasions or when you want to go for a night out. However, adding a little sparkle into your daily makeup routine can be a nice accent to a plain look. Don’t be afraid to use makeup with glitter or sparkles in it when you are working at an office. Glittery makeup does not always have to be a bold statement. It all depends on where you place it and how much you put. Make sure it acts as just an accent and not a complete main focus in your makeup look. You never want to show up to work looking like a disco ball. I suggest that if you are going to use glitter, focus it on the eyes and not the face. It is more appropriate to use glitter on the eyes than within your base makeup. Having glitters and shimmers in your foundation, blush, bronzer or contour can look too much for the office. Keep it to a minimal if you are working at traditional setting.
My top suggestions to adding glitter into your office makeup are to use it on…..

  • Inner Tear Ducts
  • Eyeliner
  • Middle of Eyelids

Here are my top picks of glittery makeup products for the office!

Calgary Beauty Jobs – Glitter Makeup

When it comes to glittery makeup, there has always been a fine line. Too much deemed only appropriate to the under-16 crowd or solely for an 80’s themed costume party. But after years of cautiously donning subtle sparkle and glint, our inner girly girl finally gets to shine – literally. Chunky, bright, multi-coloured – glittery makeup is a Holiday trend where more is more! The look is luxurious, flashy and oh-so party perfect. Get inspired with a few of our favourite glitter must-haves to sport this dazzling trend. Shine bright like a diamond, indeed!

1. Nothing says glam quite like this Sequined Manicure set from Ciaté – includes a ‘glitter grip’ base coat, thick application brush and sequins, available in black and gold, multi-colour or pink. The perfect all-in-one kit for the gal on the go! Tip: to remove glitter, hold a cotton ball soaked in nail polish remover on your nail for a full 15 seconds, then swipe. (Ciaté Sequined Manicure Set, $19, available at Sephora)

2. I’m a mega-fan of multi-purpose products and this Sephora glitter liner and mascara duo does the trick! Highly pigmented and long-lasting, line glittery colour on eyes and layer onto lashes for major impact. (Sephora Collection Glitter Eyeliner and Mascara, $13)

3. Nars’ ‘Orgasm’ has been a cult favourite shade for the brand from the day it was launched. So they introduced ‘Super Orgasm’, its super-sparkly sister shade! The colour is a peachy-pink with gold glitter – a flattering shade for pretty much every skin tone. (Nars Blush, $28, available at Sephora)

4. When it comes to super-rich gloss, Dior Addict Ultra Gloss takes the cake! Supreme colour payoff with a dazzling finish makes this gloss a definite party must-have. Try ‘Little Red Dress 856’ – a true red with a micro glitter finish. (Dior Addict Ultra Gloss, $28, available at Holt Renfrew and Sephora)

5. Mess factor aside, glitter powder is so much fun to play with! Lightweight and fine glitter particles add instant glam for the face or body. For a long-lasting effect, apply with a wet brush. Also, try sprinkling this glitter dust onto lip gloss to emphasize lip volume. (Make Up For Ever Glitter, $14 available at Sephora)

Makeup Jobs – Tickled Pink

Friday, November 2nd, 2012

When a cold season sneaks up on us (yet again,) we always resort to wearing bitter colours to match the bitter winds. But this season, change that up and dare yourself to hit the high notes with hot pink! This ultra-fun new beauty trend that popped up on runways from Chanel to Viktor & Rolf gives a whole new meaning to coming down with a case of pink eye. If you’re makeup routine is craving a little adventure try sweeping some punchy pink pigment across your lids like Makeup Forever’s shadow in #53 or M.A.C’s pigment powder in Magenta. For ladies that like to be the life of the party, how about rocking a pair of Shu Uemura fuchsia faux lashes? Prefer a more subtle touch? Maybe Urban Decay’s Heavy Metal glitter eyeliner in Catfight is your way to go. So have some fun and make this season a new start, because this bold look that’ll leave you pretty in pink is not for the faint of heart.

Esthetician Jobs – Outrageous Beauty for Halloween

Monday, October 29th, 2012

The best time of year to experiment with bold makeup is Halloween. Throw on all of the blue lipstick, glitter and tacky nail applique’s you want! Usually we’re a firm believer of less is more but when it comes to Halloween we think it’s totally okay to break all of the rules. There’s still a few more days worth of Halloween parties to attend and if you don’t have a costume we have some bold beauty choices to get you inspired.

1. Paperself Eyelashes, $9, available at Sephora
These lashes are the perfect accessory to a simple peacock costume. Really the only time you can pull of a lash this extravagant is at a costume party. There’s plenty of variety in the designs including deer, butterfly and an under the sea theme.

2. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in ‘True Cyan Blue’, $16, available at Sephora
OCC Lip Tars are packed with pigment and come in every shade imaginable. True Cyan Blue would definitely get some questionable looks on any random day, but we think it would be pretty awesome for a smurfette themed costume.

3. Make Up Forever Glitters, $14
Halloween is always a great excuse to load on the glitter. Make Up Forever’s potted glitter in Metallic Teal Glitter is the perfect shade for a mermaid look. Make sure to apply a primer specifically for glitter before your application, this will ensure that you don’t end up looking like a complete disco ball. These glitters are so pretty that we wish it was acceptable to wear every day.

4. Sephora by O.P.I Trend Tips, $12
Go all out with cheetah sparkle nail stickers to match your entire costume. These appliques by Sephora by O.P.I are simple to apply and can be customised to fit your nail shape with just a few snips.
