Beauty Nine to Five - Beauty Jobs in Canada

We’re such sucks when it comes to a little TLC once in a while. In fact, we consider it a weekly necessity especially while balance a busy work, school, and social life. Skincare is one of our favourite ways to relax and rejuvenate, especially when it involves some quality spa time. But we don’t always have the luxury of making it out to the spa, so why not bring it home to you? At-home face masks have really taken centre stage in the skincare world, with brands formulating everything from your classic hydration masks to spa-quality peel masks removing the need to book an appointment with your esthetician. We looked through all our beauty products, and picked out our favourite five face masks you have to try!

Jouviance Glyco|Laser 5 Soft Peel Mask
The Jouviance Glyco|Laser 5 Soft Peel Mask is an AHA/BHA peel mask that leaves you with glowing skin. Formulated with 5% Glycolic Acid (AHA), Willow Bark Extract (bha), Kaolin (white clay) and Montmorillonite (green clay), this mask not only exfoliates your skin, but reduces fine lines while minimizing pores. Jouviance also created the formula to ensure all these results are delivered irritant-free.

Herbivore Blue Clay Spot Treatment Mask
This Herbivore Blue Clay Mask has to be one of our favourites for detoxifying our skin. This formula can be used all over the face, or as a spot treatment to tackle hormonal or cystic breakouts and purify the skin. The Blue Clay mask also contains rose geranium oil which helps balance out oil production and help calm skin irritation.

Pharmagel Nutra-Lift Moisturizing Masque
If you like to keep it simple with your skincare and don’t like using too many products, the Pharmagel Nutra-Lift Moisturizing masque is a great pick. This mask really has it all – Glycolic Acid to exfoliate, Vitamins B, C & E to nourish and help the overall look of your skin and Kaolin Clay to remove impurities and detoxify the skin. After just one use, your skin feels fresh, bright and renewed.

FRESH Rose Face Mask
Toning is probably a skincare step most overlooked, but it’s crucial to good skin health. FRESH made it easy and incorporated toning with the power of hydrating in their Rose Face Mask which actually has about twp roses worth of petals in each jar. Gentle enough for daily use, this mask works to hydrate skin where it needs it most thanks to porphyridium cruentum algae while green tea’s antioxidant power brightens skin.

Formula 10.0.6 Get Your Glow On Skin Brightening Peel Mask
Don’t let the price point of this mask fool you, it’s definitely a must-have! Formula 10.0.6 is a great line of products that focus on natural ingredients to help promote healthy skin. The Get Your Glow On is a peel-off mask with citrus and papaya to help gently bright skin and unclog pores. We also recommend trying the rest of their line of mask not only for their affordability but their results!

Beauty Jobs – Top Face Masks for Fall

beauty-nine-to-five - beauty jobs in canada

It’s time for a fresh start! Just like you would update your wardrobe, your skincare lineup needs a bit of a change when transitioning seasons. Fall calls for more purifying and hydrating formulas in your routine. This is especially true when you want to revive congested, lackluster skin from the summer, while also prepping for the harsh and drying winter months ahead. Skin is always in, so let’s make the most of it with the best masks of the season. Below you’ll find some of our faves we’ll be using this fall.

Consonant’s DHE mask is 100% natural and made to detox, hydrate, and exfoliate your skin – so, it covers all the bases! It’s packed with mineral-rich Manicouagan Clay and nourishing oils to help you achieve soft, smooth, and healthy skin.

With Caudalie’s Instant Detox Mask, pink clay and coffee work to draw toxins from pores and refresh a tired complexion.4

Remove congestion and reveal brighter skin without the work. Using an enzyme or acid peel will refresh your appearance by dissolving old layers of skin. You’ll be left with an incredibly smooth surface and have a radiant glow – all without using harsh scrubs or microbeads (which could potentially cause micro-tears and irritation, anyway).  This cooling blue gel mask from Herbivore uses fruit enzymes for a gentle, exfoliating treatment.

Who doesn’t love a good sheet mask?  When it starts to get colder and you’re in need of a quick hydration boost, Patchology’s Hydraflash Masque will replenish your skin within five minutes –thanks to beneficial ingredients like hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5.

If the sun has left your skin in a rough condition, opt for soothing products this season like the Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask from First Aid Beauty. The colloidal oatmeal will calm and heal irritated skin, while shea butter infuses some much needed moisture.

Beauty Nine to Five - Beauty Jobs

One of my favourite things to do is combine multiple face masks at once to create the perfect cocktail.  Very few of us just have one problem they need to address at once, yet most of us only use a mask that addresses one to two issues.  While masks come in so many different varieties, I thought I’d share some of my favourite combinations for dealing with the dryness that most of us experience in the cooler weather.  You’ll need to access the different areas of your face.  Your t-zone (forehead, nose and chin) may require something different than you cheeks, temple, or neck.

First, start by exfoliating the skin. This will remove all the dead skin cells hanging around before you start working on the other issues.

For dryness/dehydration: Areas around the temples, tops of cheeks, and nose are often the first to show signs to dryness, as their exposure to the cold and winter rays are more intense.  Something like the GlamGlow ThirstyMud Hydrating Mask is a great option, as it deeply penetrates the skin to deliver hyaluronic and citric acid (which provide a lot of moisture).  Moreover, you don’t wash this mask off—just rub the excess into the skin.  The Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight masks works in a similar way. You leave it over overnight, as the name suggests, to wake up with a smoother, plumper complexion.

For dullness/fine lines: The cold can also create a lot of dullness in the skin, and subsequently fine lines (which are more prominent when the skin is dehydrated).  Both the Ole Henriksen Blue/Black Berry Enzyme Mask and Ren Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask work to brighten the skin, provide gentle exfoliation, and reduce lines.  These masks will work well in areas that look lackluster and sallow, often under the eyes, and under the cheeks.

5 6

For redness/sensitivity: For those who already have sensitive skin, the cool weather can bring out unwanted redness and increase skins intolerance levels, especially on the cheeks.  The First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask is one of the best for reducing these concerns, and also increasing the hydration levels and softness in the skin.  The Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel Mask acts in a similar way, as it sooths and replenishes irritated, dehydrated skin.

1. GlamGlow ThirstyMud Hydrating Mask, from $21, available at Sephora

2. Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask, $30, available at Sephora

3. Ole Henriksen Blue/Black Berry Enzyme Mask, $42, available at Sephora

4. Ren Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask, $68, available at Sephora

5. First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask, $28, available at Sephora

6. Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel Mask, $56, available at Sephora

Beauty Jobs – The Best Face Masks for Every Boss Lady

Beauty Nine to Five - Beauty Jobs inspo

October is a tricky time to deal with our complexions.  Workloads generally increase, the weather undergoes rapid changes and in the chaos of everything, most of us don’t feel like we have time to address our facial concerns.  But luckily for us, there are facemasks that are super effective to address any concern.  Below are some of my favourites.

If you’re stretched for time, The Ren Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial is perfect.  It brightens the complexion, firms, tones and smoothes skin in just a minute.  It’s so easy to use; you can apply it in the shower and come out with a more radiant complexion.

Something like a sheet mask is also an amazing option.  Most options, like the Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Water-Full Hydrogel Mask, recommend leaving it on for 20 to 30 minutes, and rubbing in the excess with your fingers.  The Farmacy Hydrating Coconut Gel Mask in Deep Moisture is another great option if you’re dealing with dehydration.  This is a perfect option just before bed, when you want to sneak in an extra chapter or two of your book.

2 3

When you’re in the mood to spend a little more time on your skin, and want to see instant results, I’d recommend a brightening mask, something like the Ren Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask.  It exfoliates away dead skin cells, reduces hyperpigmentation and fine lines in only 10 minutes.

Lastly is the Sunday Riley Good Genes Treatment.  Formulated with unneautralized lactic acid, licorice, and squalence, these ingredients work to plump, renew, brighten and repair the skin.  And the best part is that this product acts as a serum or as a mask.  You can use it daily as a replacement to your current serum, or use it in 10 to 30 minute intervals for a deeply penetrating mask.

1. Ren Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial, C$58, available at Sephora

2. Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Water-Full Hydrogel Mask, C$42, available at Sephora

3. Farmacy Hydrating Coconut Gel Mask-Deep Moisture, C$30, available at Sephora

4. Ren Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask, C$68 for 5, available at Sephora

5. Sunday Riley Good Genes Treatment, C$116, available at Sephora
