CBC Vancouver is looking for a part time makeup artist to join the new News Network Western operations team.The successful candidate will perform makeup and hairdressing tasks required in the design crafts. Creative problem solving may be required, where production requirements are clear, to devise new methods and techniques. Work is generally performed according to accepted CBC or industry standards but assignments require independent action, judgment and initiative as well as consultation with other program, production or design personnel. Contact with performers and guests requires discretion in communications and handling.
Please note, this is permanent part time position which rotates through various shifts including evenings and weekends. This position will require the ability to work flexible hours, late nights and weekends as required, to cover operational needs.
Qualifications
We're looking for a candidate with the following profile:
•One year experience; Community College graduation with study in relevant courses, or equivalent industry experience
•Solid knowledge and understanding of television program production methods including picture, lighting and design craft functions, as well as how these crafts interact with the production clients
•Able to break down scripts, contribute ideas and make recommendations to overcome problems or achieve desired results
•Consult with colleagues to determine best methods of production and materials to be used and ensure visual unity
•Select tools and materials, and ensure that they are available to meet program requirements. Research makeup material, new techniques, products and design materials to determine if they meet program requirements
•Provide cost estimates and keeps records of costs
•Use artistic skill in the application of makeup, including character makeup and prosthetics
•Schedule performers for makeup. Prepare, apply and remove all types of performers makeup. Alter makeup as required
•Perform hairstyling on natural hair, wigs and hair pieces
•Handle, apply and be responsible for the care and maintenance of wigs and hairpieces
•Make necessary arrangements for hairdressing
