Position Summary; This individual will be responsible for the development, sourcing, selecting, pricing, negotiating and maintaining all merchandise while executing financial goals following The Megahair Group philosophy.
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
•Provide a viable range of merchandise, source new merchandise and review existing to ensure products remain competitive and fresh
•Determine buy quantity and category assortment based on sales forecast, gross margin and turnover objectives
•Negotiate larger and smaller volume deals on an ongoing basis
•Identify top sellers and low performers to ensure the selection of merchandise is always meeting consumer needs
•Fully understanding customer needs, and have the ability to maximize sales and profitability.
•Ensure timely delivery of merchandise through consistent communication and follow-up with the vendor, warehouse team and locations, thus keeping backorders to zero
•Set all pricing
•Keep up to date with market trends and react to changes in demand
•Analyze consumer buying patterns and predict future trends
•Regularly review performance indicators, e.g. sales and discount levels
•Develop plans for stock levels
•React to changes in logistics and set new criteria as needed
•Meet with suppliers and negotiate terms of contract
•Maintain relationships with existing suppliers and source new suppliers for future products
•Liaise with other departments within the organization to ensure projects are completed
•Attend trade fairs as necessary
•Write reports and forecast sales levels
•Present new ranges to senior team
•Train and mentor your team
•Co-ordinate and work with the marketing department in creating eblasts, promotions, incentives and sample programs
•Communicate with the locations (including store visits) on merchandise execution plans and support them with any inventory or customer needs
•Shop competitors stores, stay current on pricing and merchandise mix
An ideal candidate would have experience with;
•Accpac Warehousing and Purchase Order Modules experience.
•Experience in the beauty industry.
•Broad understanding of retail business.
•Product knowledge and understanding of brand positioning.
•Possess a clear understanding of financial measurements and how to impact them.
•Experience with gross margin, pricing and trend analysis.
•Exceptional communicate skills.
•Strong presentation and negotiation skills.
•Demonstrate the organizational ability to facilitate multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
•Exceptional attention to detail.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
•Strong organizational and merchandising abilities.
