Yahoo! Canada is looking for an Associate Editor to work on Shine, Canada’s no. 2 site for women (Comscore, July 2012), massively popular with users and advertisers alike. We're looking for someone to help take it to the next level - and to work on a number of exciting side projects too. To be considered for the role, you'll need experience contributing to a major women's interest website or section, and knowing exactly what makes female users click.

Job Responsibilities:

•Identify, prioritize and package content that appeals to the Shine audience
•Turn around reported, sharply written posts on a variety of topics, including Fashion, Beauty, Parenting, and Home & Design
•Build and program topical sections, seasonal pages, and custom sales programs as they arise throughout the year.
•Work with the Yahoo! team to brainstorm and plan key editorial initiatives, and coordinate with other Yahoo! media teams to realize them
•Pitch story suggestions at daily editorial meeting
•Track and report content performance
•Troubleshoot technical problems
•Assist with a variety of publishing and production tasks

Qualifications

•Excellent online writing and editing skills with an eye for detail
•2+ years of writing/editing and producing Lifestyle-related daily features
•The ability to identify trends, with a special focus on where web users’ interests lie
•Experience compiling metrics to communicate the success of programming
•The ideal person should have deep experience with content management systems, knowledge of •Photoshop, sharp editorial instincts (to curate buzzy stories, choose compelling images, and write snappy headlines for section modules)
•Demonstrable Internet savvy, especially with social media
•Ability to balance editorial integrity and user engagement with business goals
•B.A. or journalism degree or graduate of recognized new media program
