With the environment being such a hot topic these days, the demand for natural and organic products is definitely on the rise – especially when it comes to beauty. With statistics indicating that the average woman consumes pounds of lipstick in her lifetime, many makeup mavens are starting to re-evaluate their product purchases and opting for more ‘green’ versions of their favourite beauty must-haves. Recognizing this trend, several brands are jumping on the eco-friendly bandwagon, launching products with fewer chemicals, more natural ingredients, and less packaging. Here are some of our favourite natural products that are sure to please both the beauty junkie and environmentalist within!

These smooth tinted balms are 100% natural, providing lips with a hint of sheer colour, soft flavour and moisturizing and nourishing benefits.
2. Belmondo The Rain Face Cleanser, $33, available at Anthropologie
A mega-fan of Canadian-made Belmondo skincare, this organic face cleanser is my new best friend! It helps to deep clean pores, soothes and calms the skin and has a light lavender and rose scent (ahhh…). Free of alcohol, GMO’s, petroleum-based ingredients, parabens, and synthetic fragrance, skin is left radiant, smooth and refreshed!
3. Physicians Formula Organic Wear 100% Natural Origin Tinted Moisturizer, $18, available at Shoppers Drug Mart
This lightweight tinted moisturizer is of 100% natural origin and formulated with 80% certified organic ingredients, including jojoba seed, sunflower seed and avocado oils and Shea butter which add mega moisture to skin. The formula is hydrating and evens out skin tone with sheer and natural coverage. I especially love the SPF 15 protection – added bonus!
4. Korres Lip Butter, $12, available at Sephora
I’m a little bit (okay, a lot) obsessed with this Lip Butter by Korres (Mango is my fave!). Lips love this rich butter, formulated with natural oils and extracts that condition and moisturize to the max. Shea butter and rice wax provide lasting hydration and softness, leaving lips kissably soft!
5. LUSH Emotional Brilliance Translucent Face Powder, $19
Another favourite of mine, Lush Cosmetics is a brand dedicated to inventing fresh handmade products with little or no preservatives or packaging – a major plus in my books! Their newly-launched Emotional Brilliance Translucent face Powder creates a shine-free finish and evens out skin tone, incorporating nourishing jojoba oil into the base to keep skin hydrated.
6. Butter London 3 Free Nail Lacquer, $14 available at Sephora
This popular nail brand not only offers the hottest fashion colours of the season (not to mention a celeb favourite), but also prides itself on being a ‘three-free’ company – formulas are free of formaldehyde, toluene and DBP. Your precious tips will thank you!
