Calgary Beauty Jobs – Silver Belle

When it comes to favourite metals, silver is definitely top of the list. Both ethereal and daring, silver has a striking, cool factor that commands attention – we love that! Rock n’ Roll icon Debbie Harry proved metallic makeup is an edgy, yet wearable look. And as we know, what goes around comes around; we’re seeing this trend back in full force this fall with different variations of intensity. When it comes to metallic makeup, the eyes definitely have it. After all, let’s face it, metallic face makeup is best left for sci-fi movies and our favourite classic characters (hello, Tin Man!) But mega-metallic silver nails have also been a hit this season – and we’re happy to follow suit! Desire to be a silver siren? Here are our top looks to score this season:

Go bold with a gunmetal smoky eye: Line eyes with a metallic pencil (we love Make Up For Ever’s Aqua Eyes), smudging into your lash line. Sweep a loose silver shadow on the lids, diffusing it from the lashes up to the brows. (Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes Eye Pencil in ‘Metallic Silver’, $18, available at Sephora)

Intensify the metallic look by dampening your shadow brush and dipping into a wet/dry shadow to create a wash of rich, concentrated colour onto eyelids. (Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour, $22 available at Sephora)

If subtle is more your style, opt for a shimmery silver shadow that allows you to build up colour as desired. This Joe Fresh classic smoky eye shadow quad is a staple for every gal’s beauty stash. (Joe Fresh Eye Shadow Quad in ‘Classic Smoky’, $10)

For a pop of striking colour on lids, channel the 60’s look by keeping lids bare and tracing a thick, dramatic line of silver liquid liner, drawing a flick at the corners to create a flirty cat-eye look. (Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner, $19, available at Sephora)

Of course, the metallic silver nail is one of the hottest looks to sport this fall. Let your tips shine with a richly opaque lacquer such as Revlon’s Top Speed Fast Dry Nail Enamel in ‘Sterling’. Or for a quick ‘no-dry’ alternative, opt for mega-glittery nail lacquer stripes that are easy to apply and peel off – perfect for last-minute parties! (Revlon Top Speed Fast Dry Nail Enamel in ‘Sterling’, $9, available at Shoppers Drug Mart or Sephora by OPI Trend Tips in ‘Silver Metallic’, $12)
