Whether you believe it or not, you can pull off a red lip. Fundamentally, a blue-based cool red colour looks best on those with cool undertones, like porcelain and fair, and an orange-based warm red colour looks ideal on those with warm undertones, like olive and golden. That being said, there are no hard and fast rules about The Red Lip; sample a few reds to find the shade that works perfectly for your complexion. Balance the bold pout with a simple, polished eye makeup look by skipping the shadow in favor of a swipe of mascara, bronzer and a dab of complimentary blush on the apples of your cheeks to create an ultra-modern style perfect for any woman.
In order to apply this makeup look like a pro, begin by exfoliating your lips with a damp, warm washcloth to ensure the application goes on smoothly, and follow by neutralizing your natural lip color by dabbing a thin coat of concealer across the mouth – this step also gives the red pigment a base, which will extend the wear of your lipstick. Avoid color bleed with a lip pencil – apply to the inner edge of the lip line – and then apply a thin coat of lipstick straight from the tube and blot with a tissue. Complete the look with a second thin coat of the same color and you’ll keep it on all day long.
