Beauty Jobs – Jacob & Sebastian

I love Sephora (and department or drug stores) as much as the next woman, but my wandering eyes and vagabond shoes are not compatible with customer loyalty. And in a city with as many great independent beauty boutiques as Toronto, why would anyone want to restrict themselves? As the song says: you’d better shop around. With this in mind, I’d like to share one my favourite beauty boutiques with you: Jacob & Sebastian.

This Queen Street fixture is the perfect place to peruse exclusive product lines in a fresh and stylish environment. With its all-white-everything aesthetic, glass storefront and charming shelves filled with little-known niche brands, Jacob & Sebastian looks like the futuristic apothecary. (Don’t worry: the white bath rub in the middle of the room and colourful towels hanging from the walls make sure the store never looks too intimidating.) Staff members are very friendly and, better still, knowledgeable about the unique brands they carry with a pressure-free approach. Some of the stand-out products for sale include beautifully packaged cosmetics from Paul & Joe, all-natural (yet expensive) skincare from Tata Harper and fragrances from the cult-favourite CB I Hate Perfume. Speaking of fragrances, Jacob & Sebastian also does custom scents, in case you’re looking to get a unique gift for someone special – or yourself!

Be sure to check it out – this is one store worth the loyalty. You can thank me later.
