Ombre hair blew up the beauty world and is a staple amongst the trendiest it-girls like Drew Barrymore, Rachel Bilson and well, just about every other A-lister under 35. With the cosmetic world on board, the gradation trend is now turning up on lips and runways, like Prabal Gurung, Nina Ricci and Canada’s own Jean-Paul Braganza, and we expect to be seeing it everywhere on the streets this Fall. The ombre look is all about shading, and requires two similar tones of lipstick, a light and a dark that will blend nicely and keep things looking subtle. Start with a darker color and fill in your lips entirely, completing the look by taking the lighter shade and dabbing it in the centre to add dimension. The application will create a 3-D like effect which gives the illusion of bigger lips, and who doesn’t want that? Experimenting with different shades is fun and makes the look even bolder but to keep it wearable for everyday use, red and berry hues work best.
