Makeup Jobs – Dermalogica: Serious Skin Solutions

Recently, I visited Dermalogica’s Skin Institute for a facial. Dermalogica uses the best that science has to offer like peptides, combining them with high-grade vitamins and minerals; while the packaging is basic, the results are anything but. During the facial, the skin technician spent time inspecting my skin, asking probing, thoughtful questions – a process they call “face-mapping”, which allows them to not only tailor the facial to meet your specific concerns, but also recommend the most suitable after-care products from the line.

A variety of skin types will benefit from a professional treatment at Dermalogica, and you’ll leave with greater knowledge about your own complexion, armed with the tools to get it in tip-top shape. The skin technicians performing the facial are Dermalogica certified, trained at the institute and given follow up classes. I left with almost everything recommended for me; since using the collection, there has been a notable difference in the appearance of my skin for the positive.

My favorite products are:

1. Dermalogica Skin Renewal Booster, $66: This power-house product keeps skin exfoliated overnight and contains lactic acid, retinol and vitamins A, C and stimulating collagen production. I have noticed that my skin is less congested and smoother with evening use.

2. Dermalogica Total Eye Care, SPF 15, $57: It’s challenging to find a great eye cream – too rich, they often produce melia (those tiny white bumps), and too light, they can be ineffective. This one protects from the sun, and diffuses dark circles. I’m shocked at how great this makes my eyes look – I almost don’t need concealer!

3. Dermalogica Skin Perfect Primer, SPF 30, $64: This is the line’s newest product. It’s a treatment, primer, moisturizer and SPF all in one while the light tint, peptides and pearl powder help to give you a glow. Silicones provide the perfect silky canvas for makeup and acts as a mattifier, too.
