Beauty Jobs – In The Buff

Take a peek at any backstage beauty trend report for the last two seasons and one message will be clear: the ‘no-makeup makeup’ look complete with a polished neutral eye is the look of choice amongst most designers. Soft shadows not only enhance your natural beauty but also pair perfectly with the embellished and print crazed trends of fall. I’m totally on board with the ‘less is more’ beauty mantra and am a sucker for neutral eye shadow palettes. I’ve rounded up a few of my favourite tried and tested palettes that are universally flattering.

1. Stila, In the Light Palette, $39

This palette is completely wearable for day and night. An array of shades ranging from champagne hues to medium and deep browns perfect for a no-fuss day look to the smoky eye essentials gunmetal and charcoal grey makes this palette a cinch when coming up with numerous eye looks. The industry-favourite ‘Kitten’ shadow is included along with a chocolate brown smudge stick and a helpful lookbook with tips and tricks.

2. Urban Decay, Naked2, $50

As a follow up to the original Naked palette (which was almost impossible to snatch!) Urban Decay introduced a dozen cool toned shadows, from matte to shimmery. The palette comes with a dual ended lid and blending brush, all you need to create a simple look. An extra bonus Lip Junkie lipgloss in the shade Naked pairs nicely with all of the smoky and bronze eye looks you desire.

3. Too Faced, Neutral Eye Palette, $36

This palette packs a lot of high quality shadows despite the compact packaging. The nine shades are beautiful as a solo lid colour as well as blended together for a more dramatic eye. I love that the lightest colours, which I’m always reaching for no matter what the occasion may be, are double the size of the darker shades that I’m only daring enough to pull off for a night out. The pearly white shade also makes a great inner corner and brow bone highlight.
